If you are anything like me, you have a hard time saying “no.” I’m a people pleaser. Over the years, I have said “yes” to so many things I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen to do on my own, but I wanted to be helpful. It’s a good trait to have as long as you don’t say yes to everyone else except yourself.
I have a pretty large essential oil collection, kind of on accident. It’s a long story. As essential oils can be an investment, instead of getting rid of the ones I wasn’t using, I decided to experiment. While there are a ton of ways to use oils, in the process of playing around, I’ve learned I’m more inclined to use them in a diffuser.
Recently, I added a few new skincare products into my routine all at once. My skin strongly did not agree with one them, I just didn’t know which. So I decided to give my skin a break and strip back to bare bones. However, I love the ritual of a weekly or bi-weekly face mask for relaxing. I didn’t want to give it up, but I wanted to stick with simplicity. So I decided to do something weird and try honey.
Over the weekend, The New York Times published an article entitled, “Why Yoga Pants Are Bad for Women.” As a yoga teacher, of course it piqued my interest. I clicked on it thinking maybe there was some scientific information I needed to know about the pants I wear every day. However, once I started reading it, I quickly realized that is not what I was going to get.
After doing my research on routines, I started putting mine to the test. It’s been over 2 weeks of a consistent morning routine, and I have to say, it’s kind of amazing how much more productive I am. Starting my day off right has made a big difference in not just my work life, but in my personal practices.
We live in a society where we are praised for doing more. Complete more projects. Work longer hours. Be an artist and a teacher and a podcaster and a dj. The more you do, the more success you will, or could, have. But what happens when we burn out?
Let’s talk about the pelvis. Not the “hips,” meaning the hip joint, but the pelvis as a bony structure. I don’t think most of us realize how life changing it can be to have your pelvis aligned correctly. I can personally tell you from experience, it makes a huge difference. I want to focus mostly on the movements of the pelvis and how that affects us, but first, let’s take a quick look at the bones.
We see routines all over the internet – morning routines, evening routines, in blog posts, on YouTube, on Insta story takeovers, some celebrities’s on a big name website. They are everywhere. And you know why? Because they work. My schedule is different every day, so as part of a new year, I really want to get better at having a set routine. I know myself and I know I am much more productive and grounded when I have my routine down.
