After taking a workshop with Marc Holzman, I was reminded that Ayurveda, the sister of yoga, or the lifestyle of yoga, is all about living in rhythm with nature. This resonated deeply. Over the past few months, I’ve been theming most of my classes around the qualities of the seasons, with the inspiration of noticing how what’s going on outside directly relates to how I feel on the inside. Winter, and January specifically, invite us to self reflect and introspect.
Merry Christmas! My gift to you this year is a new, free, yoga class on my channel! The holiday season is a busy time, no matter what you celebrate. We run around shopping, cooking, going to parties and events. We are pulled in a million different directions. During the mayhem, we get stressed, tired, and often forget to take care of ourselves too. Stop and give yourself 25 minutes of yoga for connection.
Temperatures are starting to drop, and it’s getting harder to get out of a toasty bed on a Sunday morning. Honestly, the thought of pancakes were the only thing to get me up and at it this morning! As we move into winter, to stay warm we have to build our own heat, ignite our internal fire. This month’s free yoga class, that is now on my channel, will help you do just that, with a heat-building flow practice. This is a slower flow, so it’s perfect for a variety of levels.
I would like to emphasize that this video is just a tutorial, not a full class.
If you attempt any of these variations, please warm up! You can start with some Sun Salutations, then move into smaller backbends like Locust, Cobra, and Upward Facing Dog. Lunges and Crescent Warrior are also great additions to start gaining flexibility in the hip flexors.
