How to Choose Mala Beads

I recently had the opportunity to work with Mala Prayer and I jumped at the chance. With the 30 Day Meditation Challenge, I have been experimenting in my meditation practice and working with mala beads was a technique I wanted to implement. Mala Prayer’s are beautiful, afforable, and help support a good cause. As stated on their website, “With every purchase made we help enrich the lives of women entrepreneurs by providing them with access to money to invest in their business, homes and community through micro-finance loans.” I am down with that.

When Life Throws You a Curveball

It’s a Tuesday morning. It had started snowing the night before, so I eagerly hopped out of bed to open the blinds. There was an elegant dusting of snow on everything – the trees, the road, the few cars parked in front of nearby houses. It was beautiful, but cold. I snuggled back under the sheets and grabbed my phone from the nightstand. Like usual, I checked my email first. That’s when I saw it – an email from YouTube …

Yoga Class for Introspection

After taking a workshop with Marc Holzman, I was reminded that Ayurveda, the sister of yoga, or the lifestyle of yoga, is all about living in rhythm with nature. This resonated deeply. Over the past few months, I’ve been theming most of my classes around the qualities of the seasons, with the inspiration of noticing how what’s going on outside directly relates to how I feel on the inside. Winter, and January specifically, invite us to self reflect and introspect.

I Tried Float Therapy

Last Tuesday I went to Flo2S, in Little Five Points, to try Float Therapy, or as some call it, a sensory deprivation tank. Why, you may be asking? For Christmas, I received a set of yoga clothes that I wasn’t happy with. I returned it, and my parents asked me what I wanted instead. Since I wasn’t going to paying for it, I asked myself, “What is something I’ve been wanting to try but haven’t been able to justify spending my own money on?” My best friend raves about infrared saunas, so I went on a google hunt for one locally.

Why Your Hand Placement is Important

If you have ever taken one of my yoga classes, you’ll know I am a big anatomy nerd. I’m still a novice in the scheme of things, but I loved diving in deeper in my 300-hour training last year. I’ve been going through the anatomy lectures from my teacher Noah, again. If you’re an anatomy nerd too, or want to learn more, I can’t recommend his online courses enough.

Keeping a Positive Mindset When You’re Trying to Lose Weight

We survived the holidays and have finally reached 2018. With January comes New Years Resolutions. I prefer to use the term goals over resolutions, but whatever you want to call it, I am down for improving ourselves. That said, during the week between Christmas and New Years, I taught a few classes and kept hearing the same complaints. “I ate too much.” “I feel fat.” “I am a blob.” “I need to lose x pounds.” These are real things people say about themselves.

30 Day Meditation Challenge in January!

At the end of November, I asked Instagram if anyone would be interested in a meditation challenge in 2018. The resounding answer was YES. I am so excited to launch the 30 Day Meditation Challenge! My main goal with this challenge is to help you (and myself) begin, or restart, a consistent meditation practice, while also having the opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals. Let’s start conversations about meditation.
